What is Energy Healing? Balancing Your Body’s Energies for Health
An energy healing assists a person to increase the flow of their energy through their energy channels, chakras and body. An energy healing practitioner channels neutral, universal (or some might call it chi or prana) energy through their palms and then through the client’s energy system. There are different variations of energy healing including Reiki, pranic, therapeutic touch and healing touch. Energy healings are often hands off, but some energy healings involve placing hands on specific areas of the body such as the chakras.
Some forms of energy healing involve directing energy to parts of the body that seem blocked while other forms of energy healing have a format, such as the one I was trained in which directs earth energy through the leg channels, cosmic energy down the back channels, and brings a blend of this energy up the front channels, down the arm channels and through the seven major chakras of the body.
Energy healings support people to clear and balance their energy flow; to release foreign energy such as other people’s energy, emotions and problems, as well as outdated beliefs and conditioning. Really, the person who is receiving the energy healing is doing the healing – on a spirit level they are releasing what no longer serves them and filling up with their own energy – the healer is just connecting to a high vibration of energy to assist them in this process.
Some people enjoy receiving regular energy healings (weekly or monthly) because it feels so relaxing and cleansing – it’s great for releasing tension and reducing stress or anxiety. Others go for specific healing purposes, such as healing a physical or emotional issue. A person can go as deep as they like with energy healing. People can also learn to give themselves energy healings.
I give myself an energy healing every day when I meditate as it helps me to feel centered, grounded, clear and present. If I don’t I feel slightly foggy somehow. I equate it with having a shower and brushing my teeth which I do every day and would feel unclean if I didn’t; it’s the same with running my energy to cleanse my internal space.
