Creative Valentine’s Day Ideas for Mind, Body and Soul

February 14th is all about celebrating love. Here are some creative Valentine’s Day ideas for expressing love to your sweetheart with your mind, body and soul. But first a quip:

The love we give away is the only love we keep.” ~ Elbert Hubbard

We each have a favorite way to express love – for some it is through words spoken and written, for others it is through touch and other pleasures of the body, and for some it is through heart and soul communication. Blending mind, body and soul expressions of love into your Valentine’s Day celebrations will ensure you have all the bases covered.

Create your own combination from my tips below as gifts you can give your sweetheart or as creative ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day. And if you need a little help putting your feelings into words, the book, What I Love About You, is filled with unique and evocative fill-in-the-blank checklists, short answers and sentence completion exercises – click on the book image to find out more.

Creative Valentine’s Day Ideas for Mind, Body and Soul

Express What’s on Your Mind

Take some time to reflect on what it is you love, appreciate and admire about your sweetheart. Then play with the following ways to express this.

  • Write it in the form of a love letter and pop it in the mail or email it.
  • Create a poem expressing your thoughts and feelings.
  • Sing or play a song that expresses your love.
  • Cut out small heart shaped pieces of paper and write one thing on each and hide them in places your sweetheart will discover throughout the day.
  • Together, take turns verbally sharing your admirations and appreciations of each other.
  • Play a word game like scrabble and use only words that are about love and romance.

Bring Pleasure to the Body

What brings pleasure to your body? What about for your sweetheart? Here’s a list of ways to celebrate Valentine’s day through physical pleasure.

  • Give each other hand, foot, back or whole body massages.
  • Snuggle and spoon each other while you share what you love about the other.
  • Do a creative or physical activity together that you both enjoy.
  • Go for a walk in nature holding hands the whole time.
  • Make or purchase your favorite decadent foods to eat together.
  • Slow dance to romantic music or dirty dance to fun music.
  • Play sensual games with tastes, textures and smells (you get the idea).

Bare Your Soul

My Spiritual Seekers writing partner, Laurie, offered some great tips in her article, 6 Spiritual Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day, but here are some more.

  • Spend 5-15 minutes praying or meditating together as a way to get spiritually centered and then say hello to each other on a soul to soul level. Do it with eyes closed at first by saying hello to the spirit within your partner. Then open your eyes and say hello to their soul as you gaze into their eyes.
  • Read something spiritual or inspirational out loud to each other.
  • Listen to spiritual or inspirational music together.
  • Touch into higher, spiritual states such as love, gratitude, and joy with whatever activity you do together.
  • Set an intention for how you want your relationship to unfold over the next year.
  • Surrender your relationship to the God of your heart. Ask that it be nurtured and guided in ways that support your relationship to heal, grow and blossom.

Choose one or two ideas from each category – mind, body and soul – and create your own unique Valentine’s Day celebrations. You might also enjoy reading, Communicate Effectively from the Heart and Soul.
