In re-reading Doreen Virtue's intro to her book, I think she describes contacting different dieties well. She explains that it's not about worshiping an ascended being or arch angel (the way we do with God/Creator/Source) but it's about asking them for support the same way you might ask a friend, colleague or professional who has specific skills to help with a certain task or situation. In this way, you might contact several people for assistance.

Doreen says, "In other words, you can work with Jesus as your primary guide, yet still develop a benevolent relationship with other wonderful beings. You don't have to align yourself with a particular religious group or engage in impeccable behavior to attract the guidance and assistance of ascended masters. You only need to call upon them with a sincere heart."

She goes on to say "Today, we don't worship deities - we appreciate them. They have small g's in front of their god and godess titles to show that they're aspects of the God with a capital G. The deities represent the various faces, aspects, personality variables, and unique traits that God presents to us. And ultimately, since God is omnipresent, then God is within the deitieis and also within us. In other words, all of the deities and all of us are one with God."

Hope this extra info is useful,

Hello Laurie,

Connecting to God, Christ and the Holy Spirit sounds lovely. And I see what you mean about going direct to the Source, yet this past week I connected to arch angel Gabriel and asked for support with my writing career - woosh - did I ever get a boost this week including being woken up earlier than I usually do each day (so I can get writing I guess) and interesting contacts and support have come my way and I feel as though I'm moving forward more energetically than I have before. Other times I connect directly to Christ energy (which is so kind, compassionate and accepting).

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the idea of not being "allowed" to connect to whatever spiritual dieties a person wants to. I think too many religions have distored the original teachings of ascended beings such as Jesus, and then created rules to control the masses. Whenever fear or rules come into play, there's usually a control game going on.

I can't imagine God/Source/Creator being offended if someone contacts a spiritually deity that is not in one specific religous teaching (remember that Christianity and the Bible came after many other spiritual teachings). God unconditionally loves and accepts all people and creatures on earth - even those who wander of the path of spiritual truth so someone who is trying to connect to Source through angels, archangels, Jesus or someother asceneded being is definitely on a spiritual path as far as I can see. As well, if we are created in the image of God, wouldn't we have all of the creative and healing powers of God (such as energy healing, psychic powers etc)? I think it's what we do with these abilities that counts (anything can be used to heal or harm).

I really think it's important for people to trust themselves on a higher, spiritual level (as deep within we all have our own truth and information) about what feels appropriate to connect to spiritually.

I could go on and on - such an interesting topic!

Take care,

Hello Gini,

Thanks for your explanation -- it helps!

I suppose Christians CAN connect with different Divinities....but are we "allowed" to? This isn't a question directly to you, it's more me thinking out loud. In the Bible, believers and Christ followers are warned not to mess with principalities, other world spirits, psychic powers, etc.

Connecting directly to God and Christ and the Holy Spirit (3 in 1!) is the way for me to go. I always asked Catholics why pray to the saints when they can go directly to the source, and for me this is a similar concept. I understand the theories behind it, but prefer God Himself :-)

Fascinating stuff, though -- I'm glad to learn about it!

Blessings,
Laurie

Hi Laurie,

Since connecting with guardian angels and archangels I feel so much more protected and guided.

As I understand it, archangels are overseers to the angels. So in a sense, archangels are direct messengers of God (although we are all connected to God but the archangels are at a closer vibration to God, whereas those of us on earth have varying degrees of connection and vibration to God, depending on where we're at in our spiritual evolution etc.). Our guardian angels are always with us (but won't interfere unless we ask them too), whereas archangels will come to us when we ask them (and whereas angels cover all general protection and guidance, archangels have specific areas they oversee).

I don't think it matters whether you are Christian, Islamic or whatever, you can pray and connect to whatever Divinities you resonate with (it's all the same in the end - when you look at the core truths in any religion or spiritual tradition they all point to the same thing but just with different words/concepts).

There are angels and ascended beings connected to various faiths or cultures as well. For example, Jesus is connected to Christianity, Buddha was considered Hindu, Kuan Yin was Asian. When it comes to ascended masters, they were actually in human form at one time but were enlightened (knew they were one with God) and now they assist us from the heavens. Most archangels were not in human form ever, but just a direct extension of God. I'm not sure about guardian angels - perhaps a bit of both.

The best way I know to discover what is a fit and what's not, is to ask your guardian angels to come near you and sense their presence, then do this with an ascended being of your choice (like Jesus) and then an archangel and just tune into their energy, intention etc. I notice a different energy (or personality) between each of them. If it feels better to connect straight to God/Creator/Source then do that (as I mentioned before, the others are aspects or extensions of God so in the end, it is all the same thing).

But I highly recommend reading any of Doreen Virtue's books on angels, guardian angels and/or ascended masters. She really explains it well. She has a Phd in psychology but she is also clairvoyant and can communicate directly with beings out of body and has a strong connection with the angelic world.

Have fun with it,

I love the idea of being watched over by a guardian angel, because it makes me feel save and protected (kinda like I do when I think of God and/or Jesus watching over me).

But what's the difference between a guardian angel and an archangel?

Also, do you think you can be Christian and pray to other beings? I thought that crux of Christianity is that we believe in and pray to God...

I think I need to get the book :-)
