One of the best ways to improve your writing is to keep practicing. Write something – a short story, novel, article – and then comb through it while applying one writing “rule” at a time.

For instance, when you’re reading through your first draft, ask yourself if you’re using active verbs, avoiding passive tense, showing (instead of telling), and varying short and long sentences…..it’s a tough but effective way to improve your writing.
