One of the best ways to improve your writing is to keep practicing. Write something - a short story, novel, article - and then comb through it while applying one writing &quot;rule&quot; at a time.

For instance, when you&#039;re reading through your first draft, ask yourself if you&#039;re using active verbs, avoiding passive tense, showing (instead of telling), and varying short and long sentences.....it&#039;s a tough but effective way to improve your writing.
