I keep hearing about the power of visualization -- and am glad to see it in action. I guess visualizing success can help you with anything from achieving your writing goals to looking confident on TV....I've "dabbled" in visualization, but never really seriously tried it.

Maybe that's why I don't have a book contract yet.

Thanks Susan!

Laurie,

I'm so sorry for the delayed response on this! No excuse, really. I was definitely nervous before (and during) my interview, but I'd recently interviewed someone about body language during a job interview and her advice was to visualize yourself being successful in the interview. I visualized myself being successful and it calmed me down. I also listened to the segment before mine and that got my mind off things. I think my acting training also helped, because I "cast" myself in the role of the confident TV guest and tried to emulate that persona without appearing fake.

Susan, I have a question that I forgot to ask about television interviews!

Were you nervous -- and how did you deal with it?

I've done radio interviews, and found them incredibly stressful. Well actually, the first 2-3 were stressful because I was discussing my articles and I'm not an expert on the content (I just wrote the article!). But, my fourth was great because I was interviewed about being a writer, and that's second nature.

So....any quick tips for overcoming nervousness before doing radio or TV interviews?

Thanks,
Laurie
