I am also an aromatherapist and I have got to tell you that writing in sensory is one of the best ways to reel in the reader by evoking a memory and a feeling and if it is something that they associate with they will love what they read.

Thanks for your comments! Learning the secrets of good writing takes time, practice, and lots of reading…but it does get easier to use sensory details in your writing if you actively try.

It’s so easy to forget the sensory detail. I usually catch it the second or third draft, when I throw myself full body into my character and am him/her. That’s when I realize they would hear/smell/sense more than I’ve put in the story. Good reminders.
