Fear of change is the most difficult aspect of all endeavors. I have just left the classroom after fourteen years and I am now combining my marketing/writing experience with my teaching expertise. Your article was very helpful, and I agree that "The Artists Way," particularly the morning pages was a good book. Also, the books of Donald Murray and a number of other teacher/writers have been helpful.

I have ordered "Zen" as I have a learning curve around social media. I would love to talk to you about working on the editing of "Quips and Tips." My expertise around teaching and learning may be very useful to you.

Thanks Andy

I love to read and a couple of months ago I have been working on a story I would love to get publish. I know that it might not get publish at first shot and I am prepared for rejection. I just wanted to know if I can get a book published if I am still not 18 years old. I hope you dont think im just kidding because this is serious for me. So I hope you answer me. Thanks a lot!:D

Hi Laurie,
I have written short stories before, even won a contest and had one published. I have been planning a book in my head for years. I have been researching furiously for the last few months. I know I am at the point where I need to actually start physically writing...and I am terrified. The thought of putting that first sentence down, and it not being perfect, even hours of torment to decide on character names. What do I need to do to give myself a good kick you know where and just do it.

I know this may sound crazy, but I think some writers are afraid to find or even use their voice for fear of backlash from family and friends. On the other hand, some get burned out from writing in one particular voice. For example, I'm the type of writer who doesn't want to be 'boxed in' to one type of voice. Where's the fun in that? It's one of the reasons I stopped guest blogging. I got tired of my 'voice' and am looking for new opportunities where I can be witty, humorous, snarky, and satirical. Change is good.

I really enjoyed reading the various quotes in your post, ‘20 Writing Quotes From Famous Authors – From Hemingway to Jong”. I particularly like Ernest Hemingway; I have read quite a few of his books and I have also been fortunate enough to visit his home in Key West, Florida.

Hi Laurie,

This is a great post, very helpful. I have wondered how I could get someone to post a guest post on my blog. I really had no idea what so ever. I will be checking out the sources you suggested and let you know how it turns out.

Thanks a lot,

~Jeremy

No tips, but I wanted yto say how impressed I was at the casual tone of the letter. Not having much experience with query letters, I probably let them intimidate me more than I should. It is obvious that you believe in your topic, have allowed plenty of room for growth, and can make each story enjoyable.

My only question, as a reader: I would wonder how this can be inspirational if it is focusing on the women who were not well-behaved. I get it, but may not choose to purchase it if I was hoping to be inspired. Maybe the subtitle could say something about women who captured a spot in history, and why.

Does that make sense?
