Yoga can increase fertility (and your chances of getting pregnant) – but it depends on a few things. Here are a few tips for yoga poses and fertility…
Before the tips, here’s a quip from a yoga teacher:
“Before you’ve practiced, the theory is useless,” says David Williams. “After you’ve practiced, the theory is obvious.”
One of the best ways to learn whether yoga improves fertility and increases pregnancy chances is to give it a try! Yoga is a wonderful way to relax, mediate, and stay healthy — which is why it can help with getting pregnant.

Fertility and Yoga – 5 Tips for Increasing Pregnancy Chances
Be open to trying natural ways to get pregnant
My husband and I haven’t tried fertility yoga because I’m just discovering and researching it. We do regular yoga together, though – and we’re happy try all sorts of ways to conceive a baby (acupuncture, herbal medicines, etc). Before you decide if fertility yoga is hogwash or your possible miracle cure for lack of pregnancy, I encourage you to give it a chance!
Do what relaxes you when you’re trying to get pregnant
Fertility treatments – or even just trying to get pregnant - can be stressful and hard on couples coping with infertility. If a few bouts of fertility yoga don’t relax you, or even increases your anxiety levels, then move on to a different complementary therapy. The foundation of fertility yoga is that it’s relaxing, energizing, and strengthening. The better you feel, the more likely you’ll conceive a baby.

Use “fertility yoga” for both relaxation and a physical workout
For yoga to be effective, you need to balance stretching and conditioning your muscles with slow, deep breathing. The idea behind fertility yoga is the simple movement of energy: the poses correct blockages or imbalances in the body, which could be the root of some infertility issues.
Focus on certain yoga poses to increase fertility
This is where a DVD, book, or in-person class comes in handy! There are certain yoga poses that affect fertility by improving hormone levels, increasing circulation to reproductive organs, and stimulating the abdominal and reproductive parts of the body. Some of these fertility yoga poses include Bridge Pose, Child’s Pose, Cobbler’s Pose, and Legs on the Wall Pose.

Include your partner in the fertility yoga poses
Practicing yoga together can bond you and your spouse – and it can be fun! My husband and I do a Sun Salutation every morning before the day begins…it’s not a specific yoga pose for fertility, but it energizes us for the day. And, it’s something we do together, which brings us closer. If you think your partner wouldn’t be into trying yoga, just ask him or her to try it three times. If it’s not working for you, then try something else!
Another very important natural way to increase fertility and pregnancy chances is with a “fertility diet.” Read Natural Foods That Increase Your Chances of Pregnancy.
Always remember, though: there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to fertility yoga or conceiving a baby. What works for some couples doesn’t work for everyone.
