My mother-in-law sometimes asks how we're doing, but never suggests adoption or infertility treatments. And my mom is a whole different story! She sometimes says it's better if you don't have kids -- life is easier, you have more money, you can travel, your health lasts longer.....I don't know if it's true about being healthier, but kids are a huge life commitment! If I had the choice, I'd want to have a baby or two, but if we don't ever get pregnant, I'm okay with it. I’m lucky — my in-laws don’t push for anything. My mom wants me to adopt and I finally had to say, "I normally value your opinion, but when it comes to this I have to chose what I want to do. If I want to adopt in time I will, but for now I want to do pursue having my own child." My mother in law wanted to comfort me when I was upset and I appreciate that, but if I'm going to have a break down only my husband can comfort me. That is SOOOO true.
