5 Tips for Creating a Vision Board for Fertility

Visualization and vision boards aren’t guaranteed to increase fertility levels – but surrounding yourself with images of the life you want may help you get pregnant! So, I’ve rounded up tips for creating a vision board for fertility….

Before the tips, a quip:

“You must see your goals clearly and specifically before you can set out for them,” said Les Brown. “Hold them in your mind until they become second nature.”

Whether your goal is to get pregnant naturally, conceive a baby through in vitro fertilization (IVF), or secure an overseas adoption – a vision board can help you achieve your goals. 5 Tips for Creating a Vision Board for Fertility

1. Understand what a vision board is. Typically, a vision board is a large poster board on which you paste your wishes and wants, which are represented from clippings from magazines, books, newspapers or various sources. For instance, my “I wanna be a published book author” vision board has a cocktail napkin on it. The napkin says, “Never let a few facts stand in the way of a good story.”

2. Narrow down your idea of a vision board for fertility. Do you want to get pregnant before your third cycle of intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF)? Then create a fertility vision board that represents minimal invasive techniques, healthy embryos, and your vision of a healthy, happy baby. Do you want to get pregnant naturally, without infertility treatments? Then create a fertility vision board of items that represent organic living, Mother Nature, and natural ways of conceiving a baby.

3. Collect your supplies. You’ll need a large poster board or thick paper, glue, old magazines/newsletters/notes/diary entries/books – anything you don’t mind cutting into, which represents how you hope your life will be in a year or two. Don’t limit yourself to pictures of babies. Include any quotation, story, photo, cartoon, or item that reminds you of fertility, conceiving a baby, having a healthy pregnancy, and starting your family.

4. Create your fertility vision board. This might be an ongoing process – as you come across items that make you think of getting pregnant and delivering a healthy baby, include them. If your previous pictures or quotations don’t work for you, put something more current on top. There are no set guidelines to creating a vision board for fertility: you have to trust your heart! You can even put a picture of you, feeling fulfilled and happy, on it.

5. Look at your vision board often. To stay focused on the positive energy that could affect your fertility levels, put your vision board somewhere you’ll look often. Surround yourself with healthy intention, hope, and faith – and you may find yourself feeling more centered and grounded as you try to conceive a baby.

A final tip on creating a fertility vision board: include your partner, if you have one. This is one way of keeping your marriage strong in infertility!
