Dear Sarah,

I'm so sorry to hear what a difficult time you're having getting pregnant.

Has your husband had a sperm test done? If a couple can't get pregnant, there's a 33% chance that his sperm may be the issue. And, there's a 33% chance that it's "unexplained infertility", which means the doctors don't know why the couple can't conceive a child.

If your husband hasn't had a sperm test, it'd be good if he had one.

Let me know how it goes.

Blessings,
Laurie

Hi Emily,

I don't know if his medication is affecting his sperm count or your ability to get pregnant...it depends on the dosage, his genetics, and his lifestyle. The best person to answer your question would be his doctor, or a fertility specialist.

And remember -- it takes most couples a year to get pregnant, on average! So keep your eye on those signs of ovulation (the ovulation strips can be very effective), and enjoy the process of trying to get pregnant...

Good luck; and if you haven't gotten pregnant in the next few months, think about talking to a fertility specialist.

My husband and I are trying to get pregnant. We've been trying for about 3 months now and no luck. I have bought ovulation strips at the store to determine when I'm ovulating. My husband is on medication for pain as well as medication for anxiety, could this medication have something to do with his sperm count. I have 2 children already and we are working on a third. This will be his first child. But I was just wondering about the medication, if it could have anything to do with me getting pregnant. The medication he is on is Percocet and Xanax. Please Help!!!

Hi Anabel,

Three years is a long time to be trying to get pregnant! It sounds like you might need to talk to a doctor or fertility specialist...

Regarding cervical position: I don't know how to determine it, other than by asking your doctor to check it. I think you'd have to be very adept and very knowledgeable about your body to find it yourself.

Good luck...and I encourage you to think about seeing a doctor and perhaps taking some male and female fertility tests.
