Great article! To me real estate investment is investing into my future and retirement. I personally found that WeFindRealty4u.com is great for connecting w/ buyers and sellers of commercial properties from all over the US. My husband and I have purchased several apartments through them and have found them great. We do not like giving all our info to realtors...Love the privacy with them. Just fyi.

Investing in real estate isn't always a superior way to build wealth -- though I agree that the potential for profit does exist.

A friend of mine owns a duplex that she rents out, and it takes a lot of time, energy, people skills, and business skills to deal with tenants! She can't afford to hire a property manager or caretaker, so she and her husband regularly make home repairs and do the lawn maintenance. It's a time-consuming job for them, and it doesn't give them a profit. Not yet, anyway! When they pay off that duplex, the rental income will be more like profit. Now, it goes towards taxes, home repairs, ads for new tenants, etc.

Successfully making money off a rental property depends in large part on your tenants! Luckily, in most cases you have control over who lives in your buildings....but even good tenants can cause problems.

Thanks for your comment, Jason! You're right: identifying the right property and negotiating well is key to investing in real estate successfully.

As with anything, you need experience, lots of background information and research, and perseverance to achieve your goals in real estate.

I wonder, though...is investing in real estate better than investing in stocks?

Real estate investing is widely regarded as a superior way to build present income and long-term wealth. Real Estate is definitely a good investment opportunity, if you are able to identify the right property & negotiate well, you may increase your profit potential as there is good return on investment. Pay a lot of attention to a particular area so that you don’t miss out any opportunity coming your way.
