Dear YI,

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles with binge eating, diet pills, and exercising! I think your stomach may be bloated because you may not be eating the most nutritious foods. Diet pills aren't good for you.

Binge eating, emotional eating, and overeating aren't about weight loss as much as fear, powerlessness, lack of control, anxiety, and insecurity. The best binge eating treatment - which I failed to mention in the article - is getting professional counseling from an eating disorders or food addcition specialist.

Will you call a help line or counselor? I think getting counseling is the best way to cope with your struggles.

Let me know how it goes.

Blessings,
Laurie

Thanks for taking the time to comment -- and yes, I agree that binge eating and bulimia definitely feel like addictions!

Bulimia and binge eating are types of addiction.

Addiction of any kind should be avoided, especially drug addiction which can be very dangerous.

When you're obsessed with an eating disorder, such as bulimia or anorexia, family, friends, and your goals take a back seat.

Eating disorders can be about taking control of your life (in an unhealthy way).

Today, Dr Phil featured boys and men with eating disorders. The general advice for people struggling with bulimia or anorexia is to take every opportunity to get this problem under control! It's a tough road -- a difficult disease -- but the sooner you tackle it, the sooner you can become your best, healthiest self.
