I NEVER read books on money - but my husband always has one on the go. I think we have pretty good control of our finances...but sometimes I wish I was less tightfisted. Get one from the library, and it doesn't have to cost you anything! I completely agree with you on balancing the checkbook. I know I don't do this as well as I should, but I have at least become aware of when things are due and making sure I always have enough money to cover what is being paid. I realized one year that I was wasting over $1000 a year on overdraft fees. Once I started making sure I had the money to cover my expenses, the overdraft fees started going away, freeing up even more money. Remember, spend less than you make to build wealth!
