I had to share this comment on my "tips for saving money on medical care" article, which I'd posted over on Yahoo Shine. These are great tips, left by a nurse.

Here's what "Sesame seed" said:

My tips for saving money on medical care:

1. Stop smoking because you cant afford the nebulizers

2. Lose weight if you're fat. Obesity is costing taxpayers billions

I'm a nurse in the same hospital for 14 yrs. When I first started in 1995, we maybe had a couple of patients every month who were so morbidly obese they required specialty equipment such as a bariatric bed, bariatric commode and bariatric walkers etc.. Now it has become a priority for us to set up bariatric equipment every single day because people are so fat. Its costing insurance companies millions and we are all paying for it...the knee replacements, cellulitis, diabetes, heart disease.

It kills me when someone with COPD comes in with the odor of cigarette smoke in their clothes. They can afford the cigarettes, but not the breathing treatments. Get real.
