5 Healthy Holiday Gifts for Friends, Colleagues, or Family Members

This year, don’t give expensive gifts that just create clutter. Instead, check out these five healthy holiday gift ideas for friends, colleagues, and family members…the chances are high that these Christmas presents won’t be re-gifted!
“Isn’t it funny that at Christmas something in you gets so lonely for – I don’t know what exactly, but it’s something that you don’t mind so much not having at other times,” says Kate L. Bosher.
I know exactly what she means! The feeling of Christmas touches your heart and soul; I think it’s because many of our childhood Christmas memories are so lovely and warm. Christmas is not about presents, but presents are part of Christmas. One of my favorite gifts is a gourmet food gift basket because it’s practical, and people rarely buy it for themselves. 5 Healthy Holiday Gifts for Friends, Colleagues, or Family Members
1. A few sessions with a life coach, clutter consultant, or energy healer. If your friend, colleague, or family member is disorganized or drowning in clutter, a session or two with a life coach or decluttering expert can be the perfect holiday gift! Similarly, if the person you’re buying for has no energy or feels emotionally exhausted, consider contacting an energy healer to learn how it works. 2. Send a bottle of red wine every month for 6 months. Sign up to have a monthly bottle of wine delivered to the person you’re buying for – this is a great holiday gift for friends, colleagues and family because it’s not only healthy in moderation, it’s practical! Also, consider items that wine lovers will enjoy, such as aerators or funky wine bottle holders.
3. Give a gym membership or belly dance classes. Cover a gym membership for a month or a year. Exercise is one of the healthiest gifts you can you can give; you can’t force people to exercise, but you can certainly encourage it! Check out your local gym for yearly and monthly membership packages. Ask if they have fun, special fitness classes such as Zumba or belly dancing.
4. Send a fruit, cheese, gourmet chocolate basket. This is my all-time favorite healthy holiday gift! I love receiving gift baskets because they’re often full of out-of-season mangoes, pineapples, blueberries, and strawberries – which are all goof for your heart and body. Not so good for the environment, perhaps…it’s always a trade-off.

5. Give a dog or cat holiday gift basket. Are you shopping for someone who has everything (and it seems like we all do, these days)? Give their beloved pet a special treat. Pictured is a dog lover’s gift basket, which is a wonderful way to say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to friends, colleagues, or family members who need nothing. They’ll be thrilled that you thought of pampering their pet! Click the gift basket for details.

I’m also a big fan of giving experiences as holiday gifts (as opposed to material things). A day at the spa or a 10-ticket pass to a Pilates class is a definite experience — and a healthy one!
Interesting, thanks for this holiday gift tip! I’ve never heard of a water bottle that straps to your arm.

DÉCOR TIPS and QUIPS from AlphabetPIX.com
Bringing Out Your Inner BOLD!
Bill Blass said, “Style is primarily a matter of instinct.” Decorating takes on a new meaning for each individual. Clever and chic for Janie may be yesterday’s yawn-fest for Carol. Different tastes in décor mean different furniture, artwork and color palettes. So what is the rule of thumb for making your place zing if it’s not a certain style, pattern, or color?
Bold, baby! Bring on the bold!
Boldly say what you want to say when designing a room. Make a statement and let your personality shine through. If you go in for the palest blues to soothe and relax, add a custom zing to make it pop! Love black and white photography? Maybe even some of that ultra-hot photo alphabet wall art in black and white? Splash in some passionate pink or revved up red on the wall to make it sizzle.
No longer are walls content with neutral shades. Any color of the palette goes! Splash on muted melons or eccentric eggplants with savvy sage. Classic colors cozy up with velvety crimsons and Dijon yellows. Color is fantastically bold and beautiful! Rich textured throws, swags, rugs and runners jazz up every room, every time.
Patterns are all the rage now, too. Twists and twirls, paisleys and pearls-bold is key! Did you ever in a million years think of dotting stripes and striping dots? Designers these days are pulling out all the geometrical stops. Paisley mixes with all sorts of combinations-checks, polkas, and weathered solids. Discover a new way of looking at the world around you in different shapes and deigns.
Mix it all with gorgeous gilding in silver and gold. Toss in a few well-chosen accents-bold and beautiful. And with the trend of decor becoming more and more personalized, a meaningful piece of photography will make you feel right at home. Black and white as well as the historic look of sepia photography looks gorgeous in any room. Add all these ingredients together, and you’ve got yourself a decorating design that not only expresses your individual style but does so as personally and beautifully as you want it to.
Whatever you want to say while decorating, say it with your own personal sense of style. Put it out there for the world to see and don’t look back! Embrace your individuality whether your nature is “Janie jazzed” or “Carol calm”. Express yourself! When people enter your home they’ll shoot you a complementary smile, knowing it looks and feels sooooo perfectly like you. And no one can do YOU better.
